| Why
Move

Recently I was giving some thought to our plans to build
a barn on five acres we have in Thermal, California. As
I sat and reflected on which way things would face and how
access could be achieved I was struck by the quality of
life I lead here in the Coachella valley. Just the fact
that I have a view to consider accommodating in my plans
is something that not many can boast. More then that I have
some of the world’s best polo facilities within only
a stone’s throw of me. I can get to Eldorado polo
club easily on roads that are not over crowded and that
border the visible effects of a demand that should ensure
prosperity and therefore good services for the foreseeable
future.
It occurred to me that there must be some out there who
suffer at the hands of high overheads and think they can’t
bring their business and life to the Coachella Valley since
it does not have that which they need. Indeed only five
or so years ago this valley may not have been first on the
list of places to relocate to. That has changed.
Since, strong steady growth has increased the labor pool
and better postgraduate services promise to raise the already
high level of education within that labor force. Local business
and the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership plan for a
Cal State school campus to be added to the three institutions
of higher education that already serve the valley.
Local government has several different plans to help the
businessman move his business here. Through the Desert Communities
Empowerment Zone one can achieve federal tax and financial
incentives to relocate. The Palm Springs Foreign Trade Zone,
which lies near the Palm Springs International Airport,
helps one defer, reduce or even eliminate U.S. Customs duties,
and the Coachella Valley Enterprise Zone provides state
tax and financial incentives to relocate or expand to the
Coachella Valley Enterprise Zone.
Now that you have decided to give the Coachella Valley
Partnership or me a call to find out more, what can you
get from polo here? The first and most astonishing thing
is that we play here year round. You may have heard it gets
very hot and that’s no lie, but we still have the
morning and evening in which to play. Using these tac-tics
to avoid the heat we manage to play all year round with
the membership slipping only for two or three months around
July and August.
Some don’t realize that the fields are growing more
rapidly at this time of year then at any other due to the
ambient temperature in the ground. So not only can we play
but also we are playing on the fields at a time when nature
finds it easiest to provide the playing surface.
Polo has been played in the Coachella Valley now for many
years and as such there is already a strong following for
the sport at the grass roots level. Many of the horses seen
in Florida in the high goal have started their journey from
the sun washed fields of Eldorado. There is no shortage
of well trained horses and neither is there of willing friendly
instructors who would be more then happy to teach a lesson
on the grass or in one of the local arenas.
Affordable land is not just a benefit to developers! You
too can afford to have your horses stabled at your ranch
next to manicured bridle paths or dedicated trails. You
can have a stick and ball field in your back yard and a
lake side view to your front and Monday’s commute
doesn’t have to be more then 45 minutes, and can be
as little as you like.
So, why move? Well, why not!
